Having initiated his professional career as
violinist with the "Virtuosi di Roma", Francesco Carotenuto has
since been internationally recognized for his conducting and
compositional achievements.
A protegče of Franco Ferrara and
Goffredo Petrassi, he holds degrees and honors from the Accademia
Nazionale di S. Cecilia, the Conservatory of Music in Rome and the
Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena.

As Artistic Director and
Conductor of the
International Chamber Ensemble of
Rome, Maestro
Carotenuto has created and conducted the literally hundreds of
concerts involved in the Ensemble's 30 years of activity both in
Italy and around the world.
In addition he is frequently invited to
appear as guest conductor with many of the major symphonic and
chamber orchestras throughout Italy and abroad.
In addition
to his conducting activities, Maestro Carotenuto serves
on the teaching staff as Professor of Composition at the Conservatory of
Music, Santa Cecilia in Roma, where he has also served as Director of
the Conservatory’s Orchestra of Excellence and as Professor of the
course in Orchestra Conducting. He is the master teacher of the
"workshop for young conductors", sponsored each year by the
International Chamber Ensemble.
